Capturing particular moments in time is the architectural foundation for my recent body of sculpture. These works, life size and completely hand made, are constructed using plaster wrap and resin castings I form using my own body as the mold. Additional figurative elements employed are constructed using a labyrinth of different gauge steel and copper wires. This creates additional bodily presence where none is, the scribbled illusion of venous circulation. The unique personal vision of artists like Louise Bourgeois, Eva Hesse and Kiki Smith has informed this esthetic. As a woman, their work signals to me a total reconstruction and revitalization of the personal and transcendent bodily experience in art. So I have therefore also drawn from my own body and life experiences. From the confusion of interpersonal relationships gone awry to the emotional heartbreak experienced during the loss of a loved one, these are the events which continue to command my attention as subject matter.
